The institute for climate economics (I4CE) is a non-profit research organization that provides independent policy analysis on climate change mitigation and adaptation. 

 

We promote climate policies that are effective, efficient and socially-fair. Our 40 experts engage with national and local governments, the European Union, international financial institutions, civil society organizations and the media. Our work covers three key transitions – energy, agriculture, forest – and adresses six economic challenges: investment, public financing, development finance, financial regulation, carbon pricing and carbon certification.  

 

I4CE is a registered non-profit organisation, founded by the French National Bank Caisse des Dépôts and the French Development Agency.

About the position

We are looking for a Program Director to continue to develop our activities and impact on the agricultural and forestry sectors in France and Europe. This is a position of responsibility. The Program Director will be a member of the I4CE Steering Committee and will manage a team of 6 researchers. 

 

He or she will be responsible for:  

 

  • I4CE‘s strategy in the agricultural and forestry sectors, in line with that of the institute: ensure the relevance of the work areas, define I4CE‘s added value and the means to respond to the problems identified, map of actors and clarify the expected short/medium term impacts… 
  • Project scheduling and team organization: prioritize projects, organize the team to be able to carry them out; 
  • the quality of the expertise produced: support for the framing of subjects and the analysis of information and data collected, support for the formatting of results and the clarification of key messages; 
  • the dissemination of the work, the implementation of the influence strategy, the development of the network of decision makers and the relationship with the media on its themes; 
  • ensure the financing of the program in conjunction with the management committee: support of projects with our existing funding partners, search for new funders, responses to calls for projects. 

 

Role and Responsibilities

The position is aimed at a senior manager with at least 10 years of professional experience, with an excellent knowledge of the agricultural and forestry sectors, an advanced understanding of climate policies impacting these sectors at the national and European level and with the ability to identify expertise needs to advance these policies. Knowledge of the ecosystem of French and European decision-makers and stakeholders on agriculture and forestry, training or experience in economics and research experience would be an asset. 

 

The qualities required for this position are:  

 

  • excellent management and project management skills; 
  • strength of proposal and ability to make decisions; 
  • excellent analytical skills; 
  • ability to bring ideas to a wide network; 
  • Professional written and spoken of French and English.  

 

Location: Office based in Paris (30 rue de Fleurus – 75006 Paris). Remote work possible with minimum presence in Paris and depending on profile and location.

Remuneration: According to profile and experience.

Start date: as soon as possible.

Type of contract: Permanent Employment Contract (CDI).
