Yet countries are approaching these challenges from different institutional and economic contexts, creating significant opportunities for peer learning across regions.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Building on the first inter-regional exchange held in September 2025 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the Salvador meeting brought African and LAC experiences into dialogue through country cases, technical discussions and participatory peer exchanges. Rather than a traditional conference format, the event placed Ministries themselves at the centre of the conversation, creating space to discuss not only successful approaches but also implementation challenges, institutional bottlenecks and lessons learned.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Discussions explored the <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">fiscal and financial instruments available to strengthen resilience to climate and disaster risks and economic shocks<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, as well as the <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">institutional and governance arrangements needed to put them into practice<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Participants also considered how Ministries of Finance can work across government and how experiences developed in one region can inform approaches in another, while recognising differences in national circumstances.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Beyond the technical discussions, the exchange contributed to a broader ambition: <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">building sustained South\u2013South cooperation among Ministries of Finance working on climate<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. By connecting peers from Africa and LAC, the initiative seeks to create an ongoing space in which countries can share practical experience, identify common priorities and develop solutions grounded in the realities of emerging and developing economies.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The exchange was convened by the <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Climate Change Platform of Ministries of Finance (MEF Climate Change Platform)<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and the <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Pan-African Finance Ministers Forum for Climate Action (PAFCA)<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, bringing together Ministries of Finance from Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean, with support from the <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">2050 Pathways Platform, the French Development Agency (AFD), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the Institute for Climate Economics (<strong>I<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">4<\/span>CE<\/strong>)<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The lessons emerging from Salvador will help inform the next steps of this growing inter-regional collaboration, with a focus on turning peer exchange into practical approaches that can support Ministries of Finance in advancing resilient, low-carbon development.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How to strengthen fiscal and financial resilience in the face of climate change and related economic shocks, and translate climate commitments into implementation ?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":13,"featured_media":73875,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[79],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-73850","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-blog-post"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.5 -
