{"id":14532,"date":"2016-11-04T08:00:18","date_gmt":"2016-11-04T07:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/preprod.i4ce.org\/publication\/key-figures-on-climate-france-and-worldwide-2017-edition\/"},"modified":"2022-10-07T12:01:30","modified_gmt":"2022-10-07T10:01:30","slug":"key-figures-on-climate-france-and-worldwide-2017-edition","status":"publish","type":"publication","link":"https:\/\/www.i4ce.org\/en\/publication\/key-figures-on-climate-france-and-worldwide-2017-edition\/","title":{"rendered":"Key figures on Climate, France and Worldwide &#8211; 2017 edition"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-14532 gallery-columns-3 gallery-size-thumbnail'><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon portrait'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/www.i4ce.org\/en\/publication\/key-figures-on-climate-france-and-worldwide-2017-edition\/chiffres-cles-du-climat-2017-eng-bd-6-pdf-image-2-2\/'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i4ce.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Chiffres-cles-du-Climat-2017-ENG-BD-6-pdf-image-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>On the day of the commencement of the Paris Agreement, and on the brink of the 22<sup>nd<\/sup> Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP 22) which will be held in Marrakech from 7 to 18 November 2016, I4CE-Institute for Climate Economics and the French Ministry of Environment, Energy and the Sea are pleased to present <strong>the 2017 edition of <em>Key Figures on climate<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Some key figures from the 2017 edition:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>2015 was globally the warmest year since 1850<\/strong>, with an average temperature increase of 0.74\u00b0C above the 1961-1990 average;<\/li>\n<li>Global greenhouse gas emissions amounted to 54 Gt CO<sub>2<\/sub>e in 2013, <strong>an increase of more than 80% compared to 1970<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>In 2014, China was the largest emitter and was responsible for almost a third of global CO<sub>2<\/sub> emissions; the United States was the second largest (15%);<\/li>\n<li>In 2016,<strong> 13% of greenhouse gas emissions <\/strong>are covered by an explicit carbon price mechanism.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This small-format publication summarizes <strong>the basics to better understand climate change challenges<\/strong>. <strong>Figures and graphs<\/strong> illustrate its causes and impacts, as well as mitigation measures. In particular, detailed statistics are provided on global greenhouse gas emissions and on observed trends in Europe and in France.<\/p>\n<p>This version has been updated and expanded compared to previous years. The new edition includes greater emphasis on <strong>climate policies<\/strong>, in particular on the <strong>Paris agreement which was adopted in December 2015 at COP 21<\/strong>.
