Context
In 2026, I4CE strengthens its expertise in public policy and the economic and financial challenges of the industrial low-carbon transition, covering both the decarbonisation of traditional industries and the emergence of cleantechs in France.
The Institute for Climate Economics (I4CE ) is a non-profit research institute that contributes to the debate on public policies for climate change mitigation and adaptation through its analyses. We promote effective, efficient and fair policies.
Our 40 specialists collaborate with governments, local authorities, the European Union, international financial institutions, civil society organisations and the media.
Our work covers three transitions – energy, agriculture and forestry – and six economic challenges: investment, public finance, development finance, financial regulation, carbon pricing and carbon certification.

Job description
Contribute to the low-carbon transition of French and European industries by participating in the development of public policy and facilitating the mobilisation of public and private funding.
The position reports to the co-directors of the Economy (Louise Kessler) and Energy Transition in France (Hadrien Hainaut) programmes.
Economy, cleantechs in France focus area : analyse value chains, identify critical links and develop public policy recommendations aimed at strengthening these sectors and their competitiveness.
Energy Transition in France : take stock of public and private investment and financing for the decarbonisation of industry in France, assess investment needs for 2030 and develop coherent narratives on the financing of low-carbon investments in the sector.
Activities
- Research activities on the economy, public policy and industry financing in France and Europe, using qualitative and quantitative methods.
- Designing high-quality deliverables that showcase results and convey key messages in line with the team’s impact strategy.
- Organising and facilitating meetings and working groups.
- Regular monitoring of news related to projects.
- Contributing to I4CE ‘s impact strategy and work programme.
Required profile
Higher education graduate (minimum 5 years of higher education or equivalent) with 1 to 5 years of professional experience.
A good knowledge of the industrial sector, the challenges of low-carbon transition and green technologies are important assets.
Required qualities:
- Excellent writing skills in French and English
- Strong analytical and organisational skills
- Good knowledge of issues related to the decarbonisation of industry and/or the deployment of green technologies
- Strong appetite for research and curiosity to understand topics in depth
- Proficiency in office software, particularly Excel
- Autonomy and ability to work in a team
- Organisational and adaptability skills
