Maximising Public Development Banks’ climate impact through financial intermediation

Conferences - By : Sarah BENDAHOU / Blandine ARVIS

Some Public Development Banks – particularly the largest multilateral development banks (MDBs) – have committed to making all of their operations aligned with the Paris Agreement, including financial intermediation. There are few existing pieces of knowledge around the impact of financial intermediation on Paris alignment of intermediaries, and even less so on its contribution to reaching real-economy climate goals.

This side-event presented the key results of I4CE’s research on financial intermediation, providing clarity on financial intermediation’s relevance for transformative climate action and thus supporting PDBs and their shareholders in making informed decisions on how to prioritise the use of scarce public funds.
