Reducing greenhouse gas emissions from economic activities relies in particular on the adoption of new green technologies, also known as “cleantech .” These include, for example, batteries for electric vehicles and hydrogen, which is essential for new industrial manufacturing processes. Producing these technologies locally has many advantages: job creation, sovereignty, and a smaller environmental footprint compared to production in other countries.
For several years, I4CE has been analyzing policies implemented at the European level to encourage the establishment of industrial activities for the production of these green technologies. This work feeds into the European debate and helps evaluate the effectiveness of public policies. I4CE is now also expanding its activities in France to assess the role of cleantech in the transition of incumbent industries.
