CARMINA

17 October 2025

The CARMINA project (CARbone Mettre l’INnovation au service de l’Agriculture = CARbone, Putting Innovation at the Service of Agriculture) aims to structure and support the decarbonization efforts of the main agri-food sectors in the Grand Est region at every stage of their value chains.

Objectives: achieving 2050 climate objectives for agriculture

The CARMINA project aims to mobilize all stakeholders in the agricultural and agri-food value chain and identify organizational, technical, and economic levers that will enable the low-carbon transition.

The project will develop:

  • A low-carbon agriculture observatory in the Grand Est region;
  • An exchange network and resource center;
  • Experiments on farms, both on livestock farming, and field crops.

An I4CE study on premium prices

I4CE is contributing to the CARMINA project with an analysis of existing low-carbon financial incentives, specifically on the premium prices.

Our work will consist of:

  • Mapping financing initiatives for low-carbon projects: premium prices, carbon certification (such as Label bas-carbone), regional programs;
  • Analyzing the characteristics of premium prices, including financing volumes, and their possible combination with other mechanisms.

Work will begin at the end of 2025.

The EIP and its partners

The European Innovation Partnership for Productive and Sustainable Agriculture (EIP-Agri) is a bottom-up, interactive European research and innovation initiative that brings together stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds to work on partnership projects in the fields of agriculture and forestry. The EIP CARMINA is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the Grand Est region.

The three-year project will run from 2025 to 2027, with 25 partners participating: the Grand Est Regional Chamber of Agriculture (lead organization); Chambre Régionale d’Agriculture Grand Est (structure pilotepilot organization) ; Terrasolis ; l’IDELE ; I4CE ; ATMO Grand Est ; Chambres d’Agriculture d’Alsace, des Vosges, de la Marne, de l’Aube et Haute Marne, de la Meuse, des Ardennes ; Agrosolutions ; Agro-Transfert ; EMC2 ; CIL BFC Est ; AGRIA Grand Est ; CDER ; FDSEA51 ; CIVA ; BTPL ; Planète Légumes ; Vivescia ; Ceresia ; Cristal Union.
